Interact Software announced Interact MCP on 26 October, a Model Context Protocol server that makes 700 capabilities of its intranet platform available to approved AI assistants, including Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Gemini Enterprise. The server covers 26 areas of the intranet, from content and communications to communities and analytics. Authorized users can search, read, create, edit and act through it, and every request runs as the signed-in employee. Administrators decide which tools are enabled, and changes pass through Interact’s validation, version history and attribution. Full availability is planned for later in 2026, with earlier access for customers who are ready. ChatGPT write actions are in beta.
The release names HR among the teams it expects to use the server, with the example of a communications team preparing a parental leave page and revising approved wording from inside an assistant. “Employees gain more ways to get work done, while organizations retain control over access and changes,” said Tom Walters, VP of Product at Interact Software.
The launch fits a pattern from last week’s HR Tech conference. ChartHop’s recap of the show listed iCIMS putting hiring decisions inside Microsoft Teams and UKG bringing its capabilities into Claude, and concluded that HR data is now reachable by general-purpose AI tools. BambooHR made the same design choice earlier this month with a Claude connector that follows existing permissions.
Because Interact MCP inherits each employee’s existing access, the intranet permission map becomes the control on what an assistant can publish. For HR teams that own policy pages, the practical step is to review who holds edit rights on leave, pay and conduct pages before an assistant can act on them, the same groundwork we argued for in owning HR definitions before an AI agent reads people data.
