UKG introduced UKG Pro Pay with Workforce AI at Payroll Congress 2026 on May 11, combining agentic, assistive, and generative AI to transform payroll from a back-office process into what the company calls “a system of action with human oversight.”

The platform delivers four AI capabilities: Payroll Auditing AI for natural-language audit queries, a Payroll Analyst Agent for autonomous variance analysis, Payroll Anomaly Detection AI for identifying deviations from historical patterns, and AI Assisted Payroll Processing for scheduling and executing payroll cycles.

The business case centers on a metric UKG developed with KPMG: organizations lose 2 to 4 percent of total labor spend to “payroll leakage,” encompassing overpayments, misclassifications, and compliance penalties. For a large enterprise, even 1 percent of wasteful payroll spending amounts to million in losses. UKG says the combined capabilities can reduce payroll processing times from days to hours when auditing, analyst, and anomaly-detection functions work together.

The launch positions UKG’s payroll offering as an AI-native system rather than a legacy platform with AI features added post-hoc. By deploying agents that proactively detect issues before payroll runs complete, UKG aims to shift the payroll function from reactive error correction to predictive accuracy, a distinction that carries significant implications for enterprises managing complex, multi-jurisdiction workforces.
