Deel announced Akai on May 7, 2026, an agentic workflow platform designed to automate manual, portal-based operations including government filings, bank payout submissions, compliance reports, and data transfers. The platform operates without requiring developers, APIs, or IT integration projects, placing automation capability directly in the hands of operations teams.
Akai targets a specific operational pain point for global employers: the repetitive portal-based work that accumulates as organizations expand across jurisdictions. Each country introduces its own filing requirements, payment service providers, and regulatory submission workflows. Traditionally, operations teams handle these manually or invest months in custom integration development.
The platform learns and improves with each workflow cycle, identifying anomalies and exceptions automatically. Operations teams, including leads, finance directors, and compliance managers, build and manage automations directly without technical expertise.
Deel deployed Akai internally before external release. The company’s own operations increased automated expense reimbursement processing from 78 percent to 90 percent using Akai as a secondary automation layer. Fernando Dominguez, Associate Operations Director at Deel, stated: “We deployed Akai as a second layer. It read context, asked for clarification instead of rejecting, and learned from every cycle.”
The launch positions Deel beyond its core employer-of-record and global payroll offerings into operational infrastructure for international workforce management.
