SAP has been named a Strategic Leader in the 2026 Fosway 9-Grid for Cloud HR, according to SAP’s own newsroom announcement, with the analyst firm citing an accelerated rollout of AI features across SAP SuccessFactors and expanded integration with AI agents. David Wilson, CEO and founder of Fosway Group, said in the release that “SAP SuccessFactors has accelerated its rollout of AI features across HCM and expanded its integration with AI agents, offering more options to HR leaders,” adding that SAP’s “Excelling Trajectory in 2026 reflects its increased market performance and customer advocacy as well as continued innovation in both AI and core capabilities.” SAP said its continued investment is aimed at delivering an HCM platform combining trusted AI, reliable data, and core HCM processes across the employee lifecycle.

Analyst-grid placements are routine vendor marketing, and on their own rarely justify coverage. What is notable here is the specific criterion Fosway credited: not feature breadth generally, but AI-agent integration depth inside a core HCM system, the same capability driving the broader shift toward HR platforms competing on their AI-agent layer rather than their traditional module list.

The original insight for HR leaders evaluating core HCM platforms is that “Strategic Leader” placements are increasingly a proxy for how deeply a vendor has rebuilt its architecture around agentic AI rather than bolted AI features onto an existing interface, which matters more for a multi-year platform decision than the placement itself. Buyers should ask vendors to demonstrate agent integration against real workflows, not screenshots, before treating any 9-Grid position as a shortcut past their own evaluation, a caution that applies just as much to conversational AI claims already circulating in the ATS market.
